Striker Luqman returns to Harimau Malaya after three years

PETALING JAYA: After three years away, striker Luqman Hakim Shamsudin has made his return to the national football team.

The Negri Sembilan forward has been called up to replace Kuching City’s naturalised striker Jordan Mintah, who has withdrawn from the Harimau Malaya camp due to illness.

The national team confirmed the change on Tuesday (Nov 11) after consultation with its medical staff.

Luqman’s inclusion was also announced on Harimau Malaya’s official social media pages.

The 23-year-old has earned nine caps for Malaysia, with his last appearance coming on March 26, 2022, in a 1–2 friendly defeat to Singapore.

National coach Peter Cklamovski’s squad are currently preparing for their Asian Cup 2027 third-round qualifier against Nepal at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Nov 18.
