Selangor's woes deepen after 2-0 loss to Persib Bandung

PETALING JAYA: Selangor's woes in the AFC Champions League Two continued after they suffered yet another defeat, this time going down 2-0 to Indonesia's Persib Bandung.

The match at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium in West Java on Thursday (Oct 23) saw Selangor travelling away in search of not only their first point but also their maiden victory in the competition.

However, Christophe Gamel's men were stunned when the hosts opened the scoring through Adam Alis in the 29th minute following a swift counter-attack and the score remained 1-0 at the break.

Selangor tried to regain their rhythm in the second half but a defensive lapse proved costly when Harith Haiqal fouled Federico Barba inside the box, resulting in a penalty for the home side.

Andrew Jung made no mistake from the spot in the 66th minute to double Persib's lead.

The scoreline remained until the final whistle, leaving Selangor rooted to the bottom of Group G without a single point, while Persib moved to the top with seven points.

Bangkok United climbed to second after their 1-0 win over Lion City Sailors, who are now third with four points.
