Selangor give coach Kinoshi the boot

PETALING JAYA: Katsuhito Kinoshi has been shown the door by Selangor.

The team dropped the bombshell on Friday (Sept 26), announcing that the Japanese coach would be relieved of his duties as first team head coach.

“Selangor have relieved Kinoshi from his duties as first team head coach, effective immediately.

“Selangor would like to thank Kinoshi for his effort and commitment to the role throughout his tenure at the club.

“In the interim, the duties of the first team head coach will be assumed by Christophe Gamel as the club begins the process of recruiting a new permanent head coach,” the football club said in a statement.

The Red Giants had recently defeated Singapore’s Tampines Rovers 4-2 in the Asean Club Championship Shopee Cup on Wednesday (Sept 24), after suffering a 1-0 loss to Kuching in the Super League on Sunday (Sept 21).

Before that, they lost 2-4 to Bangkok United in the AFC Champions League Two on Sept 18.
