PETALING JAYA: Selangor head coach Katsuhito Kinoshi is keeping his cards close to his chest ahead of their FA Cup round-of-16 second-leg clash against Malaysian Universities at the Petaling Jaya Stadium today.
After a two-week break for the international window, Kinoshi faces a selection puzzle as he looks to pick the right combination to build on their 3-1 aggregate lead.
“We have a few groups of players.
“Some were with the national team, others with the Under-23 squad, and those who stayed back with the club,” said Kinoshi.
“So we have to adjust the team based on these three different groups for the upcoming matches.
“I believe the work that we have done in the past couple of weeks has been good.
“We can show up with good spirits and deliver a good game of football to the supporters.”
Selangor’s last match before the break saw them get a commanding 5-2 win against Terengganu last month, and Kinoshi said he may keep the same line-up for the FA Cup today.
“We have been considering keeping the starting 11 or rotating some of them.
“No matter what, the team’s policies are to field the best possible squad.
“We have no injuries, so everything is well on that front,” he said.
With Faisal Halim and his wife back on good terms, Kinoshi might have the services of the winger, but there has been no confirmation on his return just yet.
The team had previously assured that Faisal’s return to the pitch would be on his terms, as the 27-year-old had personal matters to deal with in the past couple of weeks.
