Harimau Malaya tamed 0-1 by Lebanon in AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifier


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia suffered a loss in their AFC Under-23 Asian Cup qualifiers opening match as they fell 0-1 to Lebanon on Wednesday (Sept 3).

Nafuzi Zain’s boys had several chances in the first half, but were denied the opportunity to get ahead in the Group F match at the Thammasat Stadium in Rangsit, Thailand.

In the second half, Lebanon kept putting the pressure, and finally got their breakthrough in the 83rd minute when Ali El Fadl defeated Malaysian goalkeeper Zulhilmi Sharani to get the winning goal.

Malaysia will now play their second group stage match against Mongolia on Saturday (Sept 6), followed by Thailand on Tuesday (Sept 9).
