Police becoming a draw specialist in the Super League

PETALING JAYA: Police are slowly earning a reputation as a draw specialist after etching their third in the Super League.

The Cops held Melaka 0-0 at the Selayang Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (Aug 23).

In their last two game, they also scored 2-2 against Brunei (Aug 9, Selayang Stadium) and Terengganu (Aug 13, Sultan Mizan Stadium, Gong Badak).

The first-half against Melaka was a cagey affair as both failed to make any worthy shots at the goal.

Melaka came out strong in the second, creating numerous chances but were just not clinical enough upfront.

In the 63rd minute, Police had the best chance through Myanmar fullback Kyaw Min Oo but his shot went over the bar.

Five minutes of additional time proved to be a nail-biter with Melaka upping the ante with their attacks.

Melaka thought they had the winner in the 92nd minute when captain Nasir Basharuddin unleashed a shot but it was saved well by Police goalkeeper Ifwat Akmal Chem Kassim.

Meanwhile in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and Kelantan also eked out a 0-0 draw at the Likas Stadium, with both sides proving cagey and at times listless with their passage of play.

The home side relied on set-pieces by using lanky Brazilian centreback Gabriel Peres as a point and he was guilty of missing at least six good chances to get the lead.

Sabah’s best chance came in the 85th minute when substitute winger Farhan Roslan unleashed a quick counter and found fellow substitute and striker Azhad Harraz Harun with a superb pass and the latter scored.

But he was adjudged to be offside and replays showed he was just millimetres off.
