PETALING JAYA: Perak’s former captain Luciano Guaycochea has urged the club’s management to pay up the players’ salaries owed to them.

He said it was only right if Perak keep to their word and fulfill their financial obligations.

The Argentine midfielder is disheartened by what he perceived as a lack of respect from the club’s leadership, particularly in light of the commitment the players had shown to help secure a respectable finish in the league.

Despite not receiving their wages for several months, the players stayed united and fought hard to finish seventh.

Currently back in Argentina, the 32-year-old, who is related to Liverpool and Argentina star Alexis Mac Allister, took to social media to express his discontent.

“As captain of Perak, I must voice out my disappointment regarding the treatment my teammates and I have endured. We showed dedication to the club and deserved to have all outstanding debts settled,” he stated on his Instagram account.

But Guaycochea showed his heartfelt gratitude to the state and their devoted fans after announcing his departure from the club.

“My time at the club has ended. I cherish the three incredible years I had spent here, where I had formed a bond with the team and the fans, which has been the most meaningful aspect of my journey,” he said.

“From my very first match to my last, I have given my all, without reservation,” he expressed.

He took a moment to acknowledge the many individuals he met along the way, reflecting on the warmth he experienced from teammates, coaching staff, kit men, medical personnel, and administrative staff.

“You will always hold a special place in my heart, Perak! Thank you for everything!” he concluded.

Meanwhile, fellow foreign player Sunday Afolabi also shared the same sentiment with Luciano in regards to the players’ owed salaries.

“The most challenging aspect of life is witnessing the struggles others face; we often judge from a distance without understanding. I pray for brighter days for everyone during this challenging time,” the Nigerian said.
