PETALING JAYA: Ramadhan Saifullah (pic) has found his wings in Kuching City, reminding people why he was one of the most promising wingers in Malaysian football in the past.
The 24-year-old, who joined the Cats on-loan from Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) last year, has been one of the star players for the Borneo club with his devastating performances on the left flank.
Ramadhan joined the club in September, and since then played 18 matches in all competitions, scoring five goals and making two assists.
He is certainly gaining lots of minutes after a long time as he grappled with injuries these past few years.
The statistics have been good but on-field performances show that he is one of the feared wingers in the Super League thanks to his superb close control, dribbling and ability to fool defences with sudden through passes.
It was not a surprise to see him being listed in the National Football Awards, as he is one of the 10 attackers vying for the best striker award.
But he is not focused on the awards as he wants to gain more confidence as a player and help Kuching finish as high as possible in the league.
“The coach (Aidil Sharin) has placed his trust in me and what I’m doing is trying to improve myself day by day and match by match. I will give my best for the team,” said Ramadhan.
“The team are really happy because I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time. I will keep working hard to score more goals.
“I wasn’t even aware that I was in the top 10. I don’t want to set high hopes for the award – I just want to focus on training and improving day by day.
“Our goal is to be among the best in the league and collect as many points as possible. We will work hard to give our best.”
Kuching are third in the league with 36 points from 22 games.
