PETALING JAYA: Striker Jordan Mintah (pic) has been at the heart of Kuching City’s much-talked about hot run in the Super League this season.

Now the Ghanaian, with a strike rate of 12 goals, wants to keep the Cats cool in their remaining two games against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) at the State Stadium in Kuching on April 17 and Negri Sembilan at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi on April 20.

Kuching are sitting pretty at third spot with 36 points in 22 matches, with Sabah (36 points from 21 games) and Terengganu (32 points from 21) fighting to finish in that position.

Teams finishing third and fourth could book a spot in the Asean Club Championship.

The 29-year-old Mintah is wary of his teammates getting too excited about finishing in the top three.

“There are still two games to go, and they’re tough games to win. So we must not get too excited and we should stay focused as the matches come,” said Mintah, who joined the Turtles in 2020 from Filipino club Kaya-Iloilo.

“When I came to Kuching, my target was to help them be among the top five. So it’s quite a surprise we’re in the top three but we should not take that for granted.”

Fresh from a good Hari Raya celebration with his teammates, Mintah said they are now refreshed for the tough matches ahead.

“We have a wonderful family atmosphere here and that has helped us play so well as a team,” he added.
