Jambor awakes sleeping Red Giants

PETALING JAYA: Selangor may have secured second spot in the Super League, but last week’s 2-1 loss to Kuching City has left the Red Giants scratching their heads.

Although the fall to the Cats was immaterial to their position in the top flight, Croatian midfielder Nikola Jambor has reminded his teammates they still had a reputation to protect as a big team.

And he has urged them to win their remaining two matches – against Terengganu (April 5) and Police (April 26) both at the Petaling Jaya Stadium – convincingly.

“I think we owe it to the fans to keep playing well and win games, even though we’ve met our target of finishing second,’’ said the versatile Jambor, who can also play as a centreback.

“With our last two games being at home, we can’t imagine losing. That’s the standard we must set as professionals.”

Selangor have amassed 46 points from 22 matches, 10 points ahead of third-placed Kuching City, who have played the same number of games.
