PETALING JAYA: Dutch-born Hector Hevel has been revealed as one of the heritage players called up to beef up the Harimau Malaya squad.
Portuguese club Portimonense SC shared a photo of the 28-year-old midfielder with the Malaysian flag on Friday (March 14) with the caption that he had been called up to join the Malaysian team.
Hevel has been playing for the Liga Portugal 2 team since the start of this year, and spent last year in China with Guangxi Pingguo in the China League One.
Earlier, Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim confirmed that three heritage players had arrived here in January, but were waiting for the final word from the government.
"On January 31, everyone reported in. Just waiting for the government’s approval. Too lazy to make a fuss," said the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) owner on his Instagram posting.
On Thursday (March 13), Harimau Malaya head coach Peter Cklamovski said the heritage players would be joining next week as their arrival process was in the final stages.
