Malaysia Cup final set for April 12

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Football League (MFL) have announced that the Malaysia Cup final between Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Pahang will take place at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on April 12.

The decision on the date was made after considering the Malaysian League schedule, as well as JDT’s involvement in the AFC Champions League Elite.

The Southern Tigers have qualified for the round of 16, with the first-leg match set for March 4. If they progress to the quarter-finals, that stage is expected to take place on April 25.

"The chosen date for the final allows JDT ample time to compete in the knockout rounds of the continental stage, as their participation at the international level is crucial in earning ranking points to improve Malaysia’s standing in the AFC club rankings," said a statement from MFL.

"As the governing body, MFL are committed to supporting any club representing Malaysia on the international stage. Furthermore, the decision to set the final for April 12 has been agreed upon and supported by Pahang."
