Dos Santos can’t wait to get his kicks with Ho Chi Minh City

PETALING JAYA: Naturalised midfielder Endrick Dos Santos (pic) will become the first Malaysian to ply his trade in the Vietnamese League when he joined Ho Chi Minh City on loan from Johor Darul Ta’zim.

The 29-year-old Brazilian said that he got a call from his agent Valdir Sousa informing him of an opportunity to play abroad.

As he was keen to explore another Southeast Asian league, Dos Santos could not resist the offer.

“Valdir called me and told me about the chance of playing in the V-League. I thought it was a good time for a change and new challenges, so I agreed to go,” said Dos Santos, who has also featured for Felcra, Selangor and Penang.

He said the club had received him warmly and he can’t wait to get started.

Dos Santos’ move was confirmed by the club on Wednesday afternoon after he passed his medical with them.

“Ho Chi Minh City are pleased to announce the acquisition of Endrick Dos Santos on loan from JDT.

“The midfielder will be a key addition to our squad for the 2024-2025 V-League season, wearing the Red Battleship jersey,” the club said in an official release.

Dos Santos has been one of the key playmakers for Harimau Malaya, earning 13 caps and was part of the squad that played in the Asian Cup early this year.
