Perak’s Wan Zack turns to ‘12th man’ for lift against Penang

PETALING JAYA: Perak’s experienced winger Wan Zack Wan Haikal (pic) has urged their fans to fill the stadium for their Super League northern derby against Penang today as they need a ‘‘12th man’’ to rally them to a win.

Both teams are fighting to move out of the bottom half of the table, as the Seladang have only won once after four matches while the Panthers are still seeking their first win.

Penang and Perak have three points so far but the islanders occupy 10th spot, a rung above the Perakians due to goal difference.

The 33-year-old Wan Zack is aware that the supporters are not happy with the team as they have suffered three defeats – to Terengganu (1-3), Police (2-3) and Selangor (1-2).

Thus his call for them to turn up in droves for the match against Penang, and give the home side the much needed support to notch a win.

“The fans must understand that we did not play badly in our defeats. We played our hearts out and gave our opponents a tough fight,’’ said Wan Zack.

‘’We are determined to get a win against Penang, and the fans can do their part by giving us full and unwavering support. We are trying to instil a winning mentality in the team and beating Penang will be the start of better things to come.’’
