Charity Shield match cancelled, JDT gets three points

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Football League (MFL) have cancelled the Charity Shield match between Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Selangor at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on Friday (May 10).

Selangor‘s decision was informed through an official letter sent to MFL thus witnessing JDT given a 'walkover' victory with a score of 3-0 and gaining three points, as the game also acts as a league fixture.

"Other matters regarding the withdrawal will be brought to the MFL Board of Directors for further action," said the statement.

The Red Giants announced that they had pulled out of the game due to security reasons on Wednesday night.

JDT urged the club to reconsider its decision but Selangor are standing firm on their move as they want to ensure players and team officials' safety are intact.
