Pan-gon denies speculation on leaving, will stay until contract expires

PETALING JAYA: I am not leaving! National coach Kim Pan-gon has refuted rumours that he and his coaching staff handed in their resignations.

Sources claimed that he had sent a letter to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and asked for ‘three months' salary as compensation.

His contract ends in December next year.

"I would like to deny a news report stating that I sent a letter to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) regarding my intention to leave the Harimau Malaya squad.

"The statement in the news article quoted from the source is completely inaccurate because I did not send any letter regarding the matter.

"I immediately contacted FAM president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin to explain this matter and I assured him that my mission with the Harimau Malaya squad is not over and I will not leave this team just like that."

He added that he is committed to guiding the team until his contract expires at the end of 2025, with the main mission of qualifying for the third round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, which confirms automatic qualification to the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
