Oman yet to get green light to train at National Stadium ahead of World Cup qualifier

PETALING JAYA: Oman are getting restless as they still have not received the green light to use the pitch at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on the eve of their return fixture for the World Cup 2026-Asian Cup 2027 second-round qualifier against Malaysia.

Oman had beaten Malaysia 2-0 last week. Their coach Jaroslav Silhavy from the Czech Republic said his team, as well as Malaysia, have not conducted official training at the pitch.

"We have not been allowed to train on the pitch yet, Malaysia too,” he said.

“With the weather situation here, I believe the pitch will not be ready but my boys are prepared for any circumstances," he said at the pre-match press conference at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya on Monday (March 25).

Instead, the Oman national team will train at the Petaling Jaya Stadium tonight, an arrangement made by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
