Habib set to seek jewels elsewhere after gem of a season with Turtles


PETALING JAYA: Terengganu midfielder Habib Haroon (pic) will no longer be with the team in the Malaysian League next season.

However, the Bahrain-born player is not ready to announce his new destination despite speculation linking him with Kedah next season.

The 23-year-old said he is leaving with a heavy heart after almost three years but wanted to find a new experience at the same time.

“This has been one of the most amazing seasons I’ve had here (Terengganu), I really love this team and will continue to love them but the fact is I need a change and a new experience.

“For two years and five months I’ve been wearing the jersey and Terengganu are always in my heart.

“One thing in life that I have always seen is the sincere love from the fans here.

“This is the first time in my entire career in football that I’ve received this kind of support from the fans.

“It is so amazing and incredible,” said Habib.

When asked if he will make a U-turn again to stay with the Turtles squad this season, Habib explained that it is unlikely to happen like before.

“What I can explain is I am no longer with Terengganu and I have agreed to play with the new team.

“But I don’t want to announce it yet because I am waiting till the end of this month to finish the contract before announcing the new team,” he said.
