Teong Kim sees the lighter side of facing giants JDT

PETALING JAYA: No one can blame Perak for being in a fearful state as they brace for the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) juggernaut in their Super League clash at the Ipoh Stadium today.

The Southern Tigers have been unstoppable, boasting a 100% record after six games to lead the table.

They have plundered a scary 25 goals, and conceded just one.

On the contrary, the struggling Seladang lie 10th in the standings, winning just once with four goals scored but 10 conceded.

Perak coach Datuk Lim Teong Kim knows the score ahead of the daunting tie but took some heat off his players by resorting to some stress-relieving humour.

‘’I’ll need a magic wand for this match, where I can just weave it and we can beat JDT,’’ he jested.

“No point talking about the pressure. If I want to avoid pressure as a coach, I might as well be selling ‘goreng pisang’. But even that job has pressure too.’’

Teong Kim is motivating his charges by telling them that it’s not impossible to steal a point if they are focused on the task.

‘’We’ve been preparing for this game just like any other game, we’ve got to be disciplined and focused.’’

Perak’s only win came in the 2-0 taming of Kuching City and one of the bright sparks in the side has been goalkeeper Bryan See, who has pulled off an impressive 25 saves in six matches, one of the best stats for a keeper in the Super League.

Bryan knows he needs to be at his best to prevent JDT from steamrolling over them.

“This is not my first time facing them. I played them three times last year in Melaka and did well to make it hard for them,” said the 29-year-old.

“We’ve done a lot of post-match analyses to see where we must improve. Now, we’re going to play the best team in the country and we know what to expect.’’
