PETALING JAYA: Moving South Korean Seo Seu-nung from the flanks to the frontline has paid dividends for Perak.

On Sunday, the youngster repaid Datuk Lim Teong Kim’s faith in him by scoring both goals in their 2-0 win over Kuching City to hand Perak their first three points in the Super League at the Perak Stadium.

The 22-year-old scored in the 42nd and 57th minutes to allow the Seladang to savour their first win in the top flight.

Seu-Nung, who used to play for Tuilla in the Spanish lower division, was a bundle of energy with his high work rate, superb off-the-ball movement and quick one-two passes.

And on Sunday, he showed that he could be a lethal finisher too.

He has struck a strong partnership with fellow striker Christian Obiozor and Hadi Fayyadh Abdul Razak.

But put aside his energetic display on the pitch, Seu-nung is a shy character.

“I’m pleased to score two goals and help Perak get the first win. The goal is to help my team gain a respectable position before the international break,” he said.

“The coach always instils confidence in us. Now, I have the belief that I can score.

“The support from the fans was incredible,” he added.

Meanwhile, Teong Kim was delighted with the win but said he needed more time to maximise their potential.

“We’ve been playing with the same style and have created many chances. Against Kuching, we took our chances.

“Now the goals are coming, and the finishing is there,” he said.

“I’m in process of building a good team. We are impatient sometimes and put too much pressure on ourselves. We have inexperienced players and we need time to improve.”

Perak are now sixth in the league with five points after four matches. They next take on Pahang at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh tomorrow.
