PETALING JAYA: Two new foreigners in Selangor – Yohandry Orozco and Ayron Del Valle (pic) – are looking to make giant strides in the Super League.

Orozco, 31, and Del Valle, 33, are earmarked to bring in goals for the club with the former providing and the latter scoring.

“I want to associate with Ayron Del Valle and leave our name at the top. We also want to contribute something important to the team together with the coaching staff,” said Orozco, who is a former Wolfsburg (Germany) player.

“In my first season in Malaysia, I want to leave many positive things in the team and I want to win my first cup of many with them.

“We will go all out when conducting everything and always do things with a lot of humility and sacrifice,” said the Venezuelan.

Having won 25 caps with his country, Orozco has been playing professional football since he was 16.

Since 2007, he has played for clubs in North America, South America and Europe but this is the first time he will be in Asia.

“I wanted to have an experience abroad and a different type of football, so I did some research about the Malaysian League. I saw that Selangor are a big team and I like challenges,” said Orozco.

“I have not spoken to anyone about football here but I have already seen a complete game of the Selangor team.

“I am looking forward to a good time here and to entertain the fans with our performances.”

Besides Orozco, the Red Giants’ other foreign signings this season are Jordanian midfielder Noor Al-Rawabdeh and Ghanaian striker Rauf Salifu.

Coach Tan Cheng Hoe said the club would stick to eight foreigners instead of fulfilling the nine foreigner quota for the new season.

Under the new league structure, teams are allowed to have nine foreigners – six (Super League team) and three (feeder side).

During match days, only five are allowed to start while one will be on the bench.

“Overall, as a coach, I am happy with the squad composition. Eight should be good enough and I am happy with how the team have been formed,” said Cheng Hoe.

“The foreign players we got were done following constant discussions with the management to ensure we got the best picks, and I am satisfied with the boys I have.”
