PETALING JAYA: Coach Tan Cheng Hoe is back in the dugout, this time with Selangor.
The Super League club confirmed the deal yesterday and the 54-year-old has set his sights on rejuvenating the Red Giants, who have been average this season.
“For me, Selangor are a club with great potential with good management and quality players. I am honoured to be given a chance to resurrect the team,” he said.
“I am very grateful that they allowed me to be with the team earlier which will help me make plans for next season. In the near future, I hope the players can understand the style of play I will demand from them.”
Current interim coach Nidzam Jamil will return as the assistant coach while their former player, K. Sanbagamaran was announced as the technical adviser.
Cheng Hoe had served as assistant coach of the national Under-20, Under-23 and Harimau Muda A teams.
He also handled Kedah from 2014-2017 and steered the Red Eagles to titles in the Premier League (2015), Malaysia Cup (2016), FA Cup and Charity Shield (2017).
Cheng Hoe then took charge of the Harimau Malaya and saw them finished as runners-up in the 2018 Suzuki Cup. He also handled the team for the 2022 World Cup-2023 Asian Cup qualifiers in 2019.
