PETALING JAYA: Relentless yet stylish - That’s how one would describe Johor Darul Ta’zim’s 6-1 thumping of Penang in the FA Cup semi-final at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on Friday (Aug 5).
The win sees the Southern Tigers booking their spot for the final, as they could face Selangor or Terengganu in that game.
Young winger Arif Aiman Hanapi was the toast for Hector Bidoglio’s side with a hattrick in the 48th, 51st and 62nd minute.
Brazilian striker Bergson Da Silva drew first blood in the 20th minute, and four minutes later, Argentinian winger Fernando Forestieri scored the second.
Substitute Syahmi Safari applied the final blow when he scored the sixth and final goal of the game in the 92nd minute. Lucas Espindola scored Penang’s consolation in the 55th minute.
JDT last won the FA Cup title in 2016, and with the form they are in, they are certainly the favourites to win the trophy this season.
