PETALING JAYA: Negri Sembilan captain Zaquan Adha Abdul Radzak has rallied the fans to throng the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi as they take on giants Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in the top-of-the-table Super League clash today.
The Deer, who are top of the league with 14 points from six games, know that a win against the Southern Tigers would keep them at the top and also widen the gap to five points.
JDT, on the other hand, are second with 12 points but have only played four games so far.
But for Negri, the prospect of staying top is enticing, and it is no surprise to see Zaquan calling the fans for support.
The 34-year-old striker said the fans’ presence will spur the team to show that they can mix it with the big boys despite just being promoted to the Super League.
“We are in the league and carrying a big hope. We need the support of our fans in Paroi.
“With their presence, I believe we can give JDT a good fight,” said Zaquan.
Negri will be facing an in-form JDT side, who recently qualified for the knockout stages of the AFC Champions League.
But Negri have been impressive in the league as they are one of the two sides, aside from JDT, to remain unbeaten.
Zaquan has been inspirational from the flanks as he always opens up spaces for strikers while their centreback Herold Goulon has shown that he is not only a mean defender but has what it takes to score as he is the team’s top scorer with five goals.
Matheus Alves is also slowly hitting form with the club, so the tie against JDT does come at a good time for Negri.
The club have also encouraged their fans via different social media platforms to purchase tickets and fill up the stadium.
If Negri upset JDT, the feat will surely be one of the highlights in the 2022 Super League.
