Nothing shabby about Shebby – a player and pundit of substance

One for the album: Malaysian football greats and The Star management team then posing at the 4th Star Editorial Futsal Tournament. The writer is next to Datuk Santokh Singh (standing second left). The other legends are Datuk Soh Chin Aun (fifth right) and Zainal Abidin Hassan (right). Squatting third from right is Serbegeth Singh.

ONE of my most unforgettable moments as a sportswriter was when the country’s football legends graced The Star’s futsal tournament in an exhibition match in 2007.

There were many stars there – ‘Towkay’ Soh Chin Aun, Santokh Singh, Zainal Abidin Hassan and the ever-happy Serbegeth Singh, popularly known as “Shebby”.
