Perak coach Mehmet Durakovic’s contract likely to be terminated

PETALING JAYA: Coach Mehmet Durakovic may part ways with his Perak family.

It is learnt that Perak’s new management is in discussion with the Australian to terminate his contract, which will end this November.

A source from the club said the atmosphere has been intense since training resumed on Feb 15.

On Saturday (Feb 20), it was learned that Durakovic did not attend the training session.

The team’s new manager is former PKNP manager Rizal Naizali, who has replaced Datuk Adly Shah Ahmad Tah.

If his termination is confirmed, the team’s morale will be affected, as many of the key players had stayed on for the new season because of Durakovic.

Durakovic joined the club midway in 2017 and helped the team win the Malaysia Cup in 2018.

In 2019, he brought them to the FA Cup final but lost to Kedah 0-1 after extra time.

Last season, Perak finished fifth in a truncated Super League.
