Megumi: Felda must attack and shoot at every opportunity

PETALING JAYA: Felda United have to live up to their moniker – The Fighters – if they want to get their Super League campaign back on track.

Their Japanese winger Ryutaro Megumi (pic) feels the team must be more aggressive, adventurous and be brave to take more shots at goal.

Since the league resumed, Felda have lost to UiTM (0-1) and Kedah (1-2) and were held by bottom club Police (1-1).

Today, they face Pahang at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka with the hope of notching a win and moving up from the ninth spot in the 12-team standings.

They currently have six points from seven matches.

“Our preparation for the match against Pahang is going well. We must focus on getting our game plan right, ” said the 27-year-old Megumi, who played in the Singaporean League for Tampines Rovers last season.

“We need to attack and shoot at every opportunity. We need to work hard if we want to beat Pahang.”

Felda are hopeful that Khairul Amri, Nicolas Velez, Megumi and Frederic Bulot can combine well up front to rattle a Pahang defence marshalled by Muslim Ahmad.

“I personally need to be more predatory in attack and create goalscoring chances for my teammates. I’m quite sure that if we bag a win we will bounce back, ” said Megumi.

“So far my stint with Felda has been okay, but it can be better.

“I would be happy if I can help the team maintain their place in the top division.”
