PETALING JAYA: Petaling Jaya City (PJ City) will be playing their first home game away from home but the boys have been told to give their best, whatever the venue.
The club have confirmed that the team will play Pahang at the UiTM Stadium tomorrow instead of at their home ground as the Petaling Jaya Stadium is undergoing renovation works, which is expected to be completed before their next home game against Terengganu on March 14.
PJ City president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal said they had thought of playing their matches away from the Klang Valley, but due to the travelling involved, opted for the UiTM Stadium in Shah Alam.
“We earlier requested to play in the Bukit Jalil Stadium, but Selangor were given the place. We also entertained the idea of playing Pahang in their venue, but three away matches in a row would be tiring, ” he said.
“The problem we have is a short term one because we want to redo the pitch and the dressing rooms at the PJ Stadium. We want to ensure that the visiting teams have a pleasant experience.
“The delay was due to the weather and so on, the situation is being sorted out.
“We will be ready before the next home game.”
Playing in a different venue might affect some players, but Subahan said he expected PJ City to do well in any place.
“I spoke to the boys on Tuesday about the venue change, and they were professional about it. They are determined to prove to everyone that they can win on any ground.
“It does not matter who we play, or where we play. They should be ready anytime and give their best.
“Against Felda, we should have collected three points as we had lots of chances but did not make use of them.”
The match, at Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka, ended in a 1-1 draw.
