Kedah wins fifth FA Cup title with 1-0 victory over Perak

KUALA LUMPUR: Kedah have won their fifth FA Cup title after beating Perak 1-0 after extra time at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday (July 27).

Fadzrul Danel Nizam was the hero for Kedah when he scored in the 105th minute of extra time to bring home the coveted cup to Alor Setar.

Kedah won the cup in 1996, 2007, 2008 and 2017.

For Kedah coach Aidil Sharin, this is his first title in Malaysia since joining the team in January.

The Seladangs had the upper hand in the first half but were guilty of missing good chances.

Perak's Brazilian playmaker Careca could have scored at least two goals, but he wasn't clinical with his headers in the 13th and 35th minute.

Kedah got their best chance in the 32nd minute when Jonathan Bauman unleashed a stinging shot but it was inches wide.
