MISC-MIFA to compete in Super League under a different guise

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Indian Football Association (MISC-MIFA) will play in the Super League in 2019, but under a different name.

MISC-MIFA president Datuk T. Mohan said a name change was on the cards as the current management have been negotiating with a new group to take over the team.

“We are discussing with the new group and are in the midst of finalising it. This is a corporate rebranding exercise and there will be changes in the team too,” said Mohan.

“There will be a new management and we hope to wrap up things in two weeks.”

MISC-MIFA earned a spot in the Super League after Premier League runners-up Felcra pulled out from the M-League.

However, the team were promoted with several conditions and Mohan said they would abide by the conditions set by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and the Malaysia Football League (MFL).

One of the condition is for the club to put forward a three-year financial plan to ensure that they do not pull out mid-season.

“There are some administrational matters that we need to address and we’re looking into it,” added Mohan.

MISC-MIFA finished third in the 12-team Premier League with 32 points while Felcra finished second with 34 points. Felda United were crowned as the champions with 43 points.

The Nilai-based club are among three teams (Felda and UiTM), who were granted national licence to compete in the 2019 Super League.
