PETALING JAYA: Struggling Kelantan have signed up Tunisian defender Alaeddine Bouslimi to boost their chances of avoiding relegation from the Super League.
The Red Warriors are placed 11th in the 12-team Super League standings with eight points from 10 matches and are facing financial difficulties.
The east coast side have already released goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat, midfielder S. Veenod, defender Nik Mohd Shahrul Azim Abdul Halim, Brazilian striker Bruno Lopez and their talismanic skipper Mohd Badhri Mohd Radzi.
Kelantan’s Egyptian coach Fajr Ibrahim wants to off load imports Margaro Gomis of France and South Korean Do Dong-hyun in his bid to reduce the team’s wage budget.
Kelantan Football Association president Bibi Ramjani Ilias Khan said Bouslimi was signed to bolster the team’s backline and the former CS Hamam-LIF player has a contract till next November.
“He will be partnering Cassio Francisco in the defence as a replacement for Nik who had joined PKNS. We hope Alaeddine will be ready to be fielded against Kuala Lumpur in our next Super League game in Cheras next Tuesday.
“We are looking to sell Margaro Gomis and Dong-hyun, I hope there are teams are interested in their services,” she said.
