KUALA LUMPUR: Heineken never fails to deliver a world-class experience for Malaysian football fans. And they did so in style yesterday as fans welcomed the iconic UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
This year’s campaign, “Share The Drama, Share The Trophy” kicked off with the grand arrival of the Champions League Trophy or “Ol’ Big Ears”, accompanied, fittingly, by Brazilian legend Ronaldinho.
Football fans from all walks of life gathered early in the morning in anticipation of the former Barcelona striker and were in rapture as he made his entrance with that familiar smile and toothy grin.
Leading the flamboyant Brazilian at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur were legends in their own fields – actor JC Chee; entrepreneur and philanthropist Deborah Henry and former Malaysiainternational footballers Datuk Santokh Singh and Datuk Soh Chin Aun.
“The Champions League Trophy is among the most prestigious and coveted in the world. I’m excited to be here on this tour, to share the thrill and honour of experiencing the trophy up close with Malaysian fans,” said Heineken ambassador Ronaldinho, who was clearly delighted with Heineken and UEFA’s efforts in bringing the trophy back to Malaysia after seven years.
Malaysia is one of only six countries selected for the 2018 UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour.
Accessible to the public at the main concourse of Pavilion in Kuala Lumpur until 10pm tomorrow, the tour activity is but the first of many experiences for fans as part of the campaign.
“Our long and successful partnership with the UEFA Champions League enables us to enrich fans’ experiences that go beyond the 90 minutes on the pitch.
“With a two-month long ‘Share The Drama, Share The Trophy’ campaign, we’re encouraging fans to invite their friends to share their Champions League match moments over a cold bottle of Heineken,” said Heineken marketing manager Loh Ee Lin.
“Malaysian fans nationwide stand a chance to grab hundreds of exclusive prizes including autographed merchandise by the football legend himself, Ronaldinho.
“The grand prize winners will ‘Share The Drama’ of the Champions League final with fans from across the globe at the City of Champions in Athens, Greece,” added Ee Lin.
Thanks to Heineken, football fans have previously been treated to one-of-a-kind viewing experiences alongside football greats, in a truly dramatic setting against exotic backdrops around the world.
This year will be no different as fans have a chance to enjoy a money-can’t-buy experience in Greece next month.
