National U-23 goalkeeper tests positive for banned substance

PETALING JAYA: National Under-23 goalkeeper Ahmad Syihan Hazmi Mohamed has been slapped with a provisional 60-day ban by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

Syihan tested positive for a banned substance - metabolite methandienone - at the AFC Under-23 Championship in Changshu, China in January.

The Negri Sembilan player did not feature in any matches for the team in China.

The AFC disciplinary and ethics committee has banned Syihan provisionally for sixty days from all football activities.

Syihan has requested for his B samples to be tested and is awaiting the result, and the AFC will take further action after receiving those results.
