Suzuki Cup: Shukor hopes Indra can recover in time for final

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia captain Shukor Adan is worried over Indra Putra Mahayuddin’s injury ahead of the do-or-die match tonight.

The 33-year-old Indra has been a revelation leading the way for the Harimau Malaya in their last two matches. 

He however is doubtful following a toe injury picked up in training.

Shukor is praying his Felda United team-mate will be able to shrug off the injury as the team badly need his presence to beat the Thais.

“Indra has been tremendous in our last two matches, having him fit will be crucial because he’s a player who can turn a match around with his brilliance,” said Shukor after the national team’s training session at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil yesterday.

The 35-year-old admitted that it will be hard to overturn a 2-0 deficit but the team are ready to fight to the end.

The skipper, who will retire from international football after the biennial tournament added they need to work hard to get the result.

“We face tough task but if we play according to the coach’s game plan we can come out victorious,” said the Malacca-born player.

“I hope the fans will turn up in full force in the stadium. We need all the prayers and support to overcome the Thais.”
