IPOH: Police have detained eight people following a commotion that broke out after hosts Perak lost 1-0 to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in a Super League match at the Perak Stadium on Tuesday.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Sum Chang Keong said the eight were aged between 16 and 25.
“The detainees are being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code.
“The police had to send out the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU), Light Strike Force, Cantas Team and the traffic police to stop the commotion,” he said.
ACP Chang Keong added that two policemen suffered injuries to their faces after being hit by stones. One of them was treated at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital while the other was treated in the ambulance.
Two media photographers were also injured when fans began throwing firecrackers and hard objects towards the end of the match.
There was further commotion outside the stadium and the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the fans.
