Fans fan the fire in Azizul to shine in Paris

MALAYSIANS from all walks of life have thrown in their support behind track cyclist Azizulhasni Awang as he makes a final bid to win the Olympic gold medal for Malaysia in the keirin event this weekend.

Regardless of the outcome, netizens believe Azizul has done his level best to put the country on the sporting map.

Azizul, who is competing in his fifth and final Olympic appearance, began his campaign in the sprint event yesterday.

“Representing the Malaysian contingent has been the most memorable experience of my career,” said Azizul.

“Proud to give it one last go!”

Netizen Amri Abdul Rahim says Azizul should just enjoy the competition without putting too much pressure on himself.

“Don’t think too much. No matter how or whatever happened, as a Malaysian we are proud of you for representing us.

“Your journey, your sacrifices and your passion to become at this level have inspired many others.

“Good luck and all the best Dato.”

“You can do it. Gua caya sama lu,” said Phuah Shew Beng.

“All the best Dato. You have millions of prayers supporting you. May your last stint brings an Olympic gold for Malaysia,” said Borman Khairuddin.

“Whatever happens, you have already inspired us!,” said Ahmad Faiz Mohd Akib.

“We support you from Sarawak Datuk! Just do your best and no matter what the results are, we are very proud of you for presenting Malaysia,” said Nabila Jia Jia.

“Good luck hero,” commented Pubalan Nadaraja.

Azizul has taken silver and bronze in his pet event keirin at the last two Olympics in Tokyo (2021) and in Rio de Janeiro (2016).
