PETALING JAYA: CIMB Group's investment in track cycling ace Azizulhasni Awang's pursuit for Olympic Games glory has paid off handsomely.

On Sunday, their ambassador Azizul repaid the faith in him by delivering a historic silver medal in men's keirin event at the Izu Velodrome in Tokyo.

In a six-man final, Azizulhasni put on a solid effort to narrowly beat reigning world champion Harrie Lavreysen from Holland to the second place behind runaway winner Jason Kenny of Britain.

"CIMB Group would like to join all Malaysians in congratulating Datuk Azizulhasni in winning the silver medal in men’s keirin at the 2020 Tokyo Games today," said the CIMB Group chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Rahman Ahmad.

"Your hard work and perseverance have led to this fantastic achievement.

"We are honoured and privileged to have you as CIMB’s brand ambassador and your win demonstrates all the values that CIMB Group holds true - strength, resilience and absolute determination."
