PETALING JAYA: Datuk Azizulhasni Awang (pic) marched into the semi-finals of the Olympics keirin cycling event on Sunday (Aug 8) by finishing second in Heat 3 of the quarter-finals at the Izu Velodrome but it was the end for Mohd Shah Firdaus Sahrom.

Azizul started his move before the derny went out and maintained a smooth pace to finish behind Japan’s hope Yuta Wakimoto.

The top three from each semi-final heat make it to the final.

Shah Firdaus, who had crashed in the opening first round race on Saturday, just could not get going and was eliminated after placing last in Heat 2 of the quarter-finals.
