Cricket-Bangladesh 39-3 at lunch, trail by 107 runs in second test v Australia

Aug 23 (Reuters) - Bangladesh were ⁠39 for three in their second innings at lunch ⁠on day two of the second test against Australia ‌in Mackay on Sunday, trailing by 107 runs.

• Australia paceman Mitchell Starc took two wickets in successive balls, having opener Shadman Islam caught for one before ​bowling Mominul Haque for a duck when ⁠the number three failed to ⁠play a shot.

• Opener Tanzid Hasan was caught for nine by ⁠Starc ‌at deep fine leg after a miscued pull shot off the bowling of captain and fast bowler Pat ⁠Cummins.

• Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was 23 ​not out at ‌the break, with number five batter Mushfiqur Rahim on ⁠four at Great ​Barrier Reef Arena.

• Australia were bowled out before lunch for 210 after resuming on 165 for eight in the morning. That gave ⁠the hosts a 146-run lead after Bangladesh ​were skittled for 64 on day one.

• Bangladesh's recalled fast bowler Shoriful Islam took a seventh wicket after dismissing Cameron Green lbw ⁠for 67 with an in-swinging yorker. Shoriful finished with 7-48, the best innings haul for a Bangladesh bowler in an away test.

• Tailenders Nathan Lyon (32 not out) and Josh Hazlewood frustrated Bangladesh ​with a 24-run partnership for the 10th ⁠wicket before Hazlewood was caught for six by Shadman after top-edging ​an attempted slog-sweep off left-arm spinner Taijul ‌Islam.

• Bangladesh lead the two-match series ​1-0 after thrashing Australia by nine wickets in Darwin.
