(Reuters) - Sydney Thunder are eyeing a second Big Bash League title after accounting for rivals Sydney Sixers by four wickets in a sudden-death derby on Friday, chasing their way to 157-6 with seven balls remaining to advance to the season decider.
Economical spells from seamer Wes Agar (2-26) and spinning all-rounder Tom Andrews (2-15) helped Thunder restrict Sixers to a below-par 151-7 from 20 overs at the Sydney Cricket Ground, where Jordan Silk anchored with 43 not out.
Opener Jason Sangha (30) came out swinging in the Thunder reply, but it was a fortuitous 42 not out from keeper Sam Billings which got the team to safety.
Thunder, who were crowned BBL champions in 2016, will be hosted in Monday's tournament final by Hobart Hurricanes, who have yet to win a trophy.
