Chi Sheng relishes chance to playing as pro in Singapore

PETALING JAYA: Playing for a foreign team professionally can be intimidating but cager Tan Chi Sheng is looking forward to the challenge.

The 21-year-old will be playing for Singapore Adroit in the Tan See Seng Cup at the Kluang Chong Hwa 2 in Johor on Wednesday.

He will be joined by teammates Hiew Jia Hao and Ooi Xian Fu.

Despite his excitement, Chi Sheng is aware of the uphill battle.

“It’s my first stint with Adroit and I feel excited because it is a rare opportunity to play for teams from other countries,” said Chi Sheng.

“It’s a chance to make new friends and learn different things from players I’ve never met before.

“It will be a challenging outing because we will enter the competition without any training since it has been hard to make arrangement for us to train in Singapore.”

Adroit are in Group B with Taiwan Division 1 and Aseel while those in Group A are NS Matrix, Johor Southern Tigers and Singapore Xin Hua.

“It’ll be tough against Taiwan but it will be a great opportunity to learn from that match,” he said.

Chi Sheng is hoping a good showing will put him in a good stead for the Malaysia D-League in July.
