PETALING JAYA: Cager Ting Chun Hong stole the show as NS Matrix made a remarkable comeback in the Major Basketball League Malaysia (MBLM).
After losing to KL Aseel recently, the team powered by Chun Hong mauled Singapore Adroit 94-87 at the Maba Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
Chun Hong combined superbly with Hiew Jia Hao and Kuek Tian Yuan to improve the club’s scoring standard by helping them to take a whopping 22-13 lead in the first quarter.
Adroit’s Moses Morgan stepped up in the second quarter, scoring eight points to trim NS Matrix’s lead to only two with three minutes to go.
Despite Morgan’s efforts, Matrix stopped Adroit’s run through the efforts of Jia Hao’s own pair of threes that led his team to an 11-point lead at the half.
The third quarter saw Adroit claw their way back into the game as Matrix struggled to contain the towering Charles Garcia.
Matrix managed to tie the game at the end of the quarter through Liew Wei Yuong.
The fourth quarter was a close back-and-forth affair with team aces, Chun Hong and Adroit’s Wong Zhong Han putting on a show for the crowd with their scoring shootout, which eventually saw Matrix triumphing in style.
The Player Of The Game was Chun Hong with a season-high 34 points with seven three-pointers.
Meanwhile, it was a bad night for Aseel as they fell to their first defeat of the season as Pegasus Sports sent them crashing with an 84-54 win.
