High-flying Sabah chalk up fourth win in Matrix Cup


PETALING JAYA: Sabah recorded their fourth successive win in the Maba-Matrix Cup after downing Putrajaya at the Balik Pulau Sports Complex in Penang.

Sabah extended their winning streak by edging Putrajaya 57-50.

Meanwhile, Selangor claimed their second win when they laboured past Perak 77-72.

Darius Chaim shone for the Sabahans, scoring 12 points and claiming 10 rebounds to ensure victory.

Selangor were indebted to Mohd Ashhadi Haidar who won 23 points for his side, chalking up five rebounds and made two assists.

The players will be relieved to get their second win after losing to Negri Sembilan in their previous match.

Their only other victory so far was against Armed Forces.

Selangor’s other loss was against hosts Penang in their opening match.

Sabah, on the other hand, are flying high after recording wins over Johor, Terengganu and Police.
