Zii Jia's hot run at Arctic Open ends as he falls to Antonsen in semis

PETALING JAYA: Lee Zii Jia’s hot streak at the Arctic Open ended on Saturday (Oct 10) after a hard-fought semi-final defeat to Denmark’s world No. 6, Anders Antonsen.

The 28-year-old Malaysian entered the match in strong form, having previously upset second seed Christo Popov. However, the fourth-seeded Antonsen proved formidable, taking the opening game 21-11.

Zii Jia rallied in the second, overcoming a 9-11 deficit at the interval to secure a 21-15 victory and force a deciding game.

Despite Zii Jia's efforts, Antonsen maintained his composure in the final game, ultimately sealing the match 21-11, 15-21, 21-16 in a grueling 78-minute contest.

This victory marks Antonsen’s first win over Zii Jia since 2023.
