PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun had little trouble reaching the third round of the World Championships after beating China’s Huang Di-Liu Yang on Tuesday (Aug 18).

It was Wei Chong-Kai Wun’s first outing together in more than a month after both were given new partners.

But there were no signs of rust as they cruised to a 21-14, 21-15 victory in 36 minutes at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.

The win also guaranteed Malaysia a place in the men’s doubles quarter-finals, with Wei Chong-Kai Wun set to face fellow Malaysians Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik in the third round.

It will be an interesting clash as Wei Chong had partnered Wooi Yik in several tournaments before coming to New Delhi.

In the women’s singles, Wong Ling Ching also made a winning start after comfortably beating Peru’s Namie Miyahira 21-10, 21-12 in the first round.

Ling Ching will next face a stern test against Japan’s second seed Akane Yamaguchi in the second round.
