PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Soh Wooi Yik came from behind to book their place in the Korean Masters final after beating Japan's Haruki Kawabe-Kenta Matsukawa on Saturday (Aug 8).
Wei Chong-Wooi Yik made a shaky start in the semi-final at the Asan Yi Sun-sin Gymnasium but raised their game to force a decider before prevailing 18-21, 22-20, 21-18 in a 59-minute battle.
The victory not only sent them into their first final together but also avenged their first-round defeat to Kawabe-Matsukawa at the Taiwan Open last week.
Malaysia are also assured of the men's doubles title after Tee Kai Wun-Yap Roy King advanced to the final with a walkover over Japan's Shuji Sawada-Daigo Tanioka.
Kai Wun-Roy King will now face Wei Chong-Wooi Yik in an all-Malaysian final on Sunday (Aug 9).
There was disappointment for independent men's singles shuttler Cheam June Wei as his bid to reach the final ended with an 8-21, 21-16, 12-21 defeat to China's Zhu Xuanchen.
