Aaron-Wooi Yik split up for Japan Open

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's No. 1 men's doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik will be split up for the Japan Open from July 14-19, with both players set to partner different teammates.

According to the main draw and qualifying list released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Friday (June 5), Wooi Yik will partner Man Wei Chong in the tournament.

Aaron, meanwhile, will team up with Tee Kai Wun, although the pair are currently on the reserve list.

National men's doubles head coach Herry Iman Pierngadi had hinted last month that a major reshuffle was on the cards for the men's doubles department.

At the time, however, he stressed that Aaron-Wooi Yik would not be affected given their status as the national team's top men's doubles pair.

Aaron-Wooi Yik suffered a shock second-round exit at the Indonesian Open on Thursday (June 4), losing to Indonesia's Nikolaus Joaquin-Raymond Indra.
