PETALING JAYA: Badminton icon Datuk Seri Lee Chong Wei knows just what to say to his wife, Wong Mew Choo, on Valentine’s Day.
“Thank you for being my strongest supporter from day one," Chong Wei shared a heartfelt message to his wife in a Facebook post on Saturday (Feb 14).
“Through every match, every injury, every high and (every) low, you were there. Not in the spotlight, but behind the scenes, holding everything together.
“People see the medals and trophies, but I see the sacrifices you made quietly for our family. For that, I will always be grateful.”
Chong Wei also shared some advice to young lovebirds, drawing inspiration from the badminton court.
“To all couples out there, love is not just about flowers or dinner. It’s about patience, teamwork, and choosing each other every single day.
“Just like in badminton, doubles only works when both partners trust each other fully.
“Wishing everyone a day filled with love, laughter, and appreciation. Happy Valentine's Day.”
At the same time, Chong Wei shared a funny incident that occurred recently, where his 12-year-old son, Kingston, showed his cheeky side.
“Three days ago, the day started with romance. Love, care, it was all there. Suddenly, my head felt heavy, and I felt dizzy. So my wife massaged my head with care.
“I told her I appreciated it and that since we got married, she gets rid of all my headaches.
“She smiled, but then asked an Olympic-level ‘supertrick’ question.
“‘Before we got married, who massaged your head?’
“My heart was beating fast, my palms sweaty. I almost said the ‘macha barber.’
“Then Kingston looked at me with confidence, as if to say, ‘relax papa, I got this.’
“He then said, ‘Before marrying mama, papa never got headaches.’
“Silence. That night, it was Maggi for both of us,” Chong Wei wrote.
