Allianz Junior Badminton Championships (AJBC) Grand Finals winners

PETALING JAYA: Selangor’s Kiera Wong proved her potential by capturing the Under-15 girls’ singles title at the Allianz Junior Badminton Championships (AJBC) Grand Finals on Sunday.

Kiera’s victory came on a great day for Selangor with Wong Wei Shen (boys’ singles), Javier Ng-Soh Jiang Yee (boys’ doubles) also triumphing in the Under-15 category at the Setiawangsa Sports Complex in Wangsa Maju.

There was also Melaka’s Annabelle Gann-Ungku Iman Zahirah Ungku Nur Firdaus after they won the girls’ doubles crown.

In the Under-13 category, Perak’s Loo Xuan Lee (boys’ singles), Selangor’s Fong Leanne (girls’ singles), Negri Sembilan’s Low Jun Jie-Mohd Raif Amsyar Latif (boys’ doubles) and Christina Alexander-Clarissa Alexander (girls’ doubles) emerged triumphant.

The AJBC is an initiative by Allianz to increase the country’s talent pool at the grassroots level.

National juniors and Bukit Jalil Sports School shuttlers are not allowed to participate in the circuit.

“Watching the games played, I was filled with great pride at seeing our young shuttlers giving their all after months or even years of training,” said Allianz Malaysia Berhad chief executive officer Sean Wang.

“Since Allianz Malaysia launched the AJBC in 2022, our aim has always been to develop grassroots talents by giving young Malaysian badminton players a chance to compete in a nationwide badminton tournament.”
