Justin and Co fail to clear opening round in Korean Masters

Justin Hoh

PETALING JAYA: It was a disappointing start for Malaysia in the men's singles as all their players fell by the wayside in the first round of the Korean Masters.

Justin Hoh went down in quick fashion 10-21, 16-21 to Yudai Okimoto of Japan at the Wonkwang University Cultural and Sports Center in Iksan yesterday.

It was the same fate for Jacky Kok Jing Hong, Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin and Cheam June Wei.

Only June Wei went the distance, losing 21-14, 11-21, 18-21 to Ting Yen-chen of Taiwan.

The challenge is also all over in the women's singles with the defeats of Siti Zulaikha Azmi, Wong Ling Ching and Goh Jin Wei.

Jin Wei's challenge is also over in the mixed doubles after losing in the qualifying round with Ng Eng Cheong.

Six pairs survived the first hurdle and they are men's doubles players Lau Yi Sheng-Lim Tze Jian, Chia Weijie-Lwi Sheng Hao; Tan Zhing Yi-Cheng Su Yin, Chong Jie Yu-Vanessa Ng (women's doubles); and Loo Bing Kun-Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan, Jimmy Wong-Lai Pei Jing.
